Varanasi is also known as Banaras & Kasi . Its a famous Hindu Pilgrim Place in India. Every Hindu must visit Varanasi, Prayaga(Triveni Sangamam or Allahabad) and Gaya at least once in his life time. Its a oldest and ancient city of the world. There are 18 Ashta Dasa Peetams and 12 Jyothirlingams in Ancient Stories. Varanasi Visalakshi & Prayaga Madhaveswari are the Ashtadasa Sakthi Peethas


Varanasi (Banaras or Kasi):

Varanasi is one of the famous pilgrim place in India. In this place you can see Kasi Viswanath Temple. It's one of the Jyothirlingam of Lord Parama Shiva, Annapurna Devi and you can see the goddess Parvathi Sakthi Peeta of Sri Kasi Visalakshi, the goddess sathi devi organ wrist has fell down in this area. People believes that Lord Parama Shiva has lived in this Varanasi. There are nearly 300 ghats in this location. Varanasi (Kashi, Banaras) has also been a great center of learning for ages. The city is very famous for Banaras Sarees. Among the mukthi sthal of Kasi, it is considered the holiest place due to the combination of Lord Parama shiva, Goddesses Annapoorna Devi, Kasi Visalkshi and River Ganga. In Hindu tradition, people strongly believes that whoever give up their life in Kasi attains Moksha.

This place is considered very sacred from ancient time and was specified in Puranas like Ramayan, Bhagawatam, Maha Bharatham, Vishnu Puranam, Astadasa Puranam and many more.

The Famous Holy Ghats are

1. Mani Karnika Ghat: The ancient story of this ghat was Lord Parama shiva and his wife Parvathi has taken their bath in this ghat. Because of this round the clock the funeral prayers and bodies in shrouds awaiting the final rites and the souls rest in eternal peace. So that this is the main cremation Ghat and one of the oldest, sacred Ghat in Kasi. According to the story of Hindu mythology, being burned here provides an instant gateway to liberation from the cycle of births and rebirths. This Ghat is symbolize for both creation and destruction.
2. Kedari Ghat : Another most important ghat in Hindu Puranams.
3. Harischandra Ghat : One more oldest ghat, in the day times cremations are allowed. The story about the King Harish Chandra,(for the saap of Sani Dev) who once worked at the cremation ground here for the perseverance of truth and charity. It is believed that the Gods rewarded him for his resolve, charity and truthfulness and restored his lost throne and his dead son to him. The people believes that if a person is cremated at this Ghat, that person gets "direct moksha". Now a days in this ghat an electric crematorium has started.
4. Ahalyabai Ghat : This ghat is on the name of Maha Rani Ahalya Bhai, she has developed many facilities for pilgrims.
5. Tulasi Das Ghat One more important Ghat in Varanasi on the name of Tulasi Das, he is great Indian Writer in Olden Days. Tulsi Ghat is named after the great Hindu poet of the 16th century. Tulsi Das has written great Indian epic, Ramcharitmanas at Varanasi.
6. Dashwamedha Ghat : Lord Brahma has performed Dashwamedha Yagna near this ghat.
7. Ganga GhatManmandhir Ghat: Another important Ghats in Varanasi.
 
A famous temples in Kasi are:

1. Dundi Ganapathi Temple: Its in the Kasi Viswanath Temple premises only.
2. Sakshi Ganapathi Temple: Its also in the Kasi Viswanath Temple Premises Only. This Ganapathi has gives the witness.
3. Kala Bhairava Temple: Its 3KM distance from the Kasi Visweshwara. Kala Bhairava is the Kshetrapalak of Kasi Visweshwar.
4. Mrutunjaya Mahadev Mandir: One more Important temple, near Varanasi. Its 2KM distance from the Kasi Viswanth Temple. Lot of small small shiva lingas you can find out in that temple
5. Tulasi Manas Anajaneya Temple: Tulasi Das has written the Tulasi Ramayan in this area only.
6 Ganga Harathi: In the evening it will start at 7PM. Lot of people has attend this Ganga Harathi in this evening time.
7. Durga Temple: It is also one of the Ancient temple in Varanasi.
8. Ganga Temple: Its near the Ganga Ghat.
9. Kashi Viswanath Temple: It is most prominent temple of Lord Parama Shiva. The monument temple is build by Rani Ahalya Bhai.
10. Annapurna Temple: This temple is near the Kashi Vishwanath temple, there is a nice temple of Annapurna Devi, the people has believed that she is "Goddess of Food". She is a form of Parvati. She is Queen of Kashi.
11. Bindu Madhava Temple: One more important Temple in Varnasi. This is one of the Pancha Madhava Temple in India. It has located near Ganga Ghat.
People Watching Ganga Arathi
You Can Watch the Ganga Aarti pictures hear, all the age categories of people are siting in boats for hire, and siting near the Dashashawamedha ghat. The people are watching the Ganga Harathi. The sight of the sun rising over the Ganga is spiritually exhilarating. In Varanasi you can find ancient temples, ancient
ashrams. Daily Aarti will starts in the Evening Sharp 7'clock.
Dashwameda Ghat
Enjoy a boat cruise on the holy waters of Ganga to reach the nearby Manikarnika Ghat and Harischandra Ghat, (its one of Varanasi’s two burning ghats Harishchandra Ghat and Manikarnika). It’s permanently lined with funeral pyres and bodies in shrouds awaiting the final rites. Here the sacred waters is decorated with marigold flowers and ashes of sacred hearts.

The Puranas said that, Kasi, is situated on the tip of the Trishul of Lord Parama Shiva. Lord Shiva has blessed Varanasi that the city will never get destroyed even at the time of final dissolution of the world.

The Place of Triveni Sangamam in Prayaga

The ancient story about Triveni Sangamam, the 3 rivers Ganga, Yamuna and internally Saraswathi river. The 3 rivers meat this place is called Triveni Sangamam. The Triveni Sangamam city is also called as Prayaga or Allahabad. Prayaga is famous for Madhaveswari (Lalitha) Sakthi Peeta, here Godess Sathi Devi organ (Fingers) has fell down in this area.

From Prayaga to Varanasi the distance is 138KMs. Its hardly 3hrs hours of journey from Kasi to Prayaga or Prayaga to Kasi.
